If you have the UK version of this book, then you’ll see that it has the r-slur on page 358. Would not recommend, love interest is very creepy as well. Read ✨any other book✨ and it will be better than this. There are so many other enemies to lovers books out there.

Such a simple plot: workplace rivals, enemies to lovers trope. It has the perfect amount of everything even with a simple plot, it crossed off all the boxes. It’s not too cliche, a lot of slowburn, it has the right pacing, pretty writing, relatable characters, character development, everything’s exactly as it should be. What a whirlwind of emotions, it had me staring at the ceiling a couple of times because I was so in shock and I kept smiling to myself.

I...I don't understand how this has so many rave reviews. I was so ready for a fun rom-com that I could shamelessly fawn over, but I couldn't root for the protagonists. Lucy is so freaking dense and does nothing but daydream about Josh's smell and his deep, deep blue eyes. Josh tries to act all aloof and mysterious, but comes off as a possessive weirdo. Is his aggression supposed to be hot? And I get it, Lucy, you're tiny! So petite and small and cute and short, such a big height difference between you and Joshua! I get it. I have this on audiobook so I tried to listen to it while writing a paper, but it was slowly killing off my brain cells so I had to DNF.

I swear I am capable of enjoying harmless, feel-good romance. If this was made into a movie I'd probably like it better, but on paper it just wasn't cutting it for me.

This book exists for no reason at all. It's clear from the start that the two main characters are in love with each other, but there's no yearning or angst. The enemies-to-lovers trope presented here isn't believable at all. And the stale writing doesn't help. The dialogues don't work, and most interactions these characters had were uncomfortable and confusing. I found the writing to be very repetitive and bland. Bottom line, I just couldn't get into the story. I felt like there was no reason to root for these characters. I usually love romance books, therefore I'm a little disappointed that I didn't enjoy reading this, especially after seeing how well-loved it is by the book community. I was expecting a light and fun read but, instead, I got an unconvincing romance and a boring plot. It just wasn't my cup of tea.

I'm not giving this a one-star rating because I've read much worse, but I was tempted. This book wasn't good by any means.
