I don't know where to begin but unfortunately, maybe I should stop having high expectations for any romance book written by a white cis female author.  The amount of times Lucy discusses her height is almost as bad as when a guy talks about being fluent in sarcasm. That is not a personality trait! Also, Josh telling Lucy the reason he doesn't have a girlfriend is that they leave him for nice guys. What? Why would you not take responsibility for your own breakups? It takes two to tango - maybe you are just a selfish person who can't see beyond his own needs? This was sold to me as enemies to lovers novel but honestly, it was difficult to picture these two being in their late 20's / almost 30's when they didn't even act like. Gosh don't even get me started on the title. They hated each other why? For being immature? I might have to hit the pause button on romance for a bit until I find something in my TBR that might not disappoint me.

I was very excited for this book but it wasn’t that enemies to lovers it was supposed to be. Nevertheless there was some good old fashioned office rivalry tension. The book itself was good but I couldn’t look past things like the lack of diversity and obsession with Lucy’s petite size and blue eyes. It felt icky.

This book exists for no reason at all. It's clear from the start that the two main characters are in love with each other, but there's no yearning or angst. The enemies-to-lovers trope presented here isn't believable at all. And the stale writing doesn't help. The dialogues don't work, and most interactions these characters had were uncomfortable and confusing. I found the writing to be very repetitive and bland. Bottom line, I just couldn't get into the story. I felt like there was no reason to root for these characters. I usually love romance books, therefore I'm a little disappointed that I didn't enjoy reading this, especially after seeing how well-loved it is by the book community. I was expecting a light and fun read but, instead, I got an unconvincing romance and a boring plot. It just wasn't my cup of tea.

I'm not giving this a one-star rating because I've read much worse, but I was tempted. This book wasn't good by any means.
