Based on how how I usually like my books more character-heavy, you'd think I wouldn't have enjoyed this one as much as I did. However, since there's also a good amount of simplified science, I ate this one up with the same enthusiasm I did Project Hail Mary a year ago.
My biggest grievance with the story was the undeserved demise of Ian Malcolm and all the raptors that just wanted to have a good time and make some raptor babies.

Ahh, sweet man made horrors beyond my comprehension (that taught me more about science and maths than several years of GCSE study)

This is my all time favourite book! although it has its flaws I find myself repeatedly coming back to it regardless of my mood. I find it’s perfect to get me out of a reading slump. It has a good amount of science integral to the storyline that makes recreating dinosaurs believable.

This is a case where the movie ruined the book for me. I understand why Lex was written the way they were but I absolutely hated reading anything they were doing. I found none of the characters charming and aside from the very violent scenes I was a bit bored. This was not a hit for me and I usually prefer stories that are slower to the scare.

If you're going into this book expecting a play by play of the movie, you're in for quite a surprise. Maybe that's why this book was a bit of a tough read for me since I knew it was different from the film but...wow.
The fact just about everybody dies before they explode the island- I'll be honest, I was not expecting that whatsoever
Overall, it was a good read. Incredibly tense and had me on the edge of my seat multiple times. I'll be honest though, I 100% could have done without Lex's character in this book. Crichton really captured the spirit of an annoying child because I was ready to strangle her at so many points. Aside from that, solid sci-fi read!

I wasn't expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did, especially since I had already seen the movie. But it was fun to read, a page-turner, and unique structurally. Sometimes it felt like there was too much of one person (usually Malcolm) just talking for way too long.
