I read a large part of this book thinking it was just a nice, light, enjoyable read, perfect for a lazy day. A predictable cast of characters, average writing, and an okay story. But then: tada, the twist, and I now understand why it has been so praised. This is 3 1/2 stars for me, but I've rounded up rather than down because it did what it set out to do well.

I originally got this book as an ARC from Celeron Books. When I first started it I thought, "Okay, this book is pretty good!" But the more I read it the more I had a problem with it.
You see, I have mental health issues. I've been in therapy for a very long time. And I had a big problem with the way the questions are phrased in this book. Half of the questions the doctors ask are what a lawyer would call "leading the witness." The doctors basically asked questions that essentially have big neon flashing lights screaming "This is the answer I want! This is the only acceptable answer to this question!" Having been in therapy for many years I know firsthand that the questions would NEVER be phrased like that.
However, the book kind of redeemed itself with the twist at the end. I didn't see that coming. So that's why the book got 3 stars instead of 2.
