This story kept me reading, so I had to have enjoyed it. But my the time I got to the end I was just happy it was over.

Too many twists for a non mystery book for me. Too many weird turns and sad events for this moment in time for me, not what I was looking for.

Great read!

I liked the triple pov set in two separate time zones. It really added depth to the story.

The plot is fascinating and the characters are enjoyable. Each of their lives are complicated and they face real life problems. Finding out how they're all connected was surprising. That plot twist was crazy!

The magical realism was fun and done well.

I didn't really appreciate Henry's affair with Martha. I suppose that happens in reality but I don't agree with it. I feel like there could have been something else that kept Henry from letting himself love Martha.
I'm also just slightly confused. If madame Bowden didn't actually exist, then who is she? Is she a ghost? And I know Martha was looking for an occupation, which is where Madame Bowden entered the story, but does that mean 12 Ha'penney Lane was just an abandoned building prior?

this book was interesting to me- it was a little hard at first to get into and once the plot truly starts forming it starts to grip you, though it’s a beautiful homage to literature and books, and an account of what I’m sure happened to strong willed women such as Opaline during that time. There were a couple of plot lines I wasn’t sure about but altogether I really enjoyed this book.

This book was a wonderful chaotic emotional ride. Not at all what I expectdd. Wonderfully written story with great surprises.

Personally, I find truly compelling romance stories focus on meaningful conflict between the leads, rather than simple miscommunications between leads who don't really have a reason not to be together. I also think this book really undermines the message of "finding yourself"
by having the female lead only reach her self-actualisation by admitting her feelings for the male lead.
