The Lost Bookshop

I do not get the hype with this book. I found it predictable and not that interesting. I enjoyed Opaline's story most but found Martha and Henry annoying and their "insta-love" which took forever to resolve was tedious. Whenever I read multiple POVs where they both love each other but aren't together yet, it takes out any tension and just seems boring.

I did like that the multiple POVs were always in the same order so I knew who's story was coming next. But overall I was just trying to get through it.

What a beautifully written book. It really captured my attention and the different tales weaved together beautifully. Great read when you’re wanting some mystery and uplifting storytelling.

A bit over the top at times, but charming and engrossing in too many ways for me to quibble.

My 12th book of the year. I enjoy books about books, book lovers , book stores and libraries. This one was fantastic. 3 POV’s. 2 timelines. All 3 POV’s were likeable characters. All 3 had interesting but sad stories. Opaline’s was in the past and often times heartbreaking. 1 in the present day was trying to find out more about Opaline and her life as a book dealer.

⭐️⭐️⭐️/5! For this one. I listen to this as audio book for my walks. Story was occasionally hard to follow and the changing time lines were sometimes giving me whiplash. As a fellow literature lover, opalines story about book selling and dealing was charming and I loved her ownership of the small book shop. Getting lost in that part of book was comforting and sweet. Martha and Henry’s story was a sweet one although I didn’t love that both of them couldn’t just couldn’t enjoy being in love they both had to have some kinda of negative undercurrent happening until the end. It took me until the end of this book and author clearing up Martha’s magic so to speak for me to really understand what has happening lol. Maybe it was just me though.
Cute, charming, and I liked it enough!
