The overall feeling I get when reading these books is that this is like the hard part of love! Like there are books where you see the hopeful and joyful side of love and these ones feel like all of the hardships and the thick parts of love! We don't really see hope or joy or almost anything positive. Much like the silent stone that silences their powers, these books emit that same feeling towards love and that's something I'm not really a fan of. I guess that's why I love thg, there's always that element there! Maybe this is it for someone else! Either way, I really enjoyed this, a little less than the first but still enjoyable! I didn't remember anything about this one though... On to the third!

This book was definitely something. I've picked it up and put it down so many times. It took me ages to get through this book and that's also how I felt reading it.
While the first book of the series was okay, this definitely wasn't a promising sequel. It didn't really feel like Mare's character was real anymore to me and I ended up disliking her. It felt like she was so self-absorbed and overwhelmed by her emotions that she didn't care about anyone else anymore and therefore ended up doing some really awful things.
I was glad when I finally reached the end of this book and won't continue the series, as it's just not for me.
Instead this book might be something for readers who like a lot of slow-paced angst set in a dystopian world.

After absolutely loving Red Queen, I was really exciting to see what happened next in the story. This book took me an embarrassingly long time to read but I finally finished it!
I didn't like this one as much of the first. It was quite a bit more slow placed than the first and we spent a loooooot of time just reading about Mare trying to wade through her thoughts. And the big action scenes felt very tactically placed and not always organic to the story.
There were parts of this that felt very typical YA dystopian/fantasy story plot points. And honestly this gave me big Breaking Dawn vibes with how they were going all over the place to hunt out people to help their cause.
While there were things I didn't like, I was still so capivated by the story. I love Cal and Mare, and I NEED to see more of them. The cliffhanger in this one was absolutely insane and I need to start the next one asap. I loved learning more about this world and trying to fit all of the pieces together, old and new.
