There's something about love stories that are just a love story. There are love stories about great, timeless loves that know no bounds, but there's something even better about love stories that end in full stops and unravel something more about the human experience of love and loving someone and being in love. This book captures so much of that human experience, and it bares all in the things one goes through and thinks when in (and out) of a romantic relationship.

Although reading the story in reverse was difficult to get a hang of at first, it made the whole story feel like a memory and contributed to the whole theme of experiencing love as opposed to succeeding or failing at it.

Heartbreaking. I was worried that the format would be confusing and it was at first but then I got used to it. I feel like I would have caught more details being brought up as the book went on but I was always excited when I found something that related to what happened earlier. So unique to try and figure out where things went wrong and what changed. I do agree with another reviewer that said they wished we were given more of a reason to like Theo towards the last third of the book. So many different things happen in this book but it doesn't feel like too much, it just feels like life. I need to make my friends read this book so I have someone to talk about it with.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the writing style when I first started reading it. It felt like a strange mix of a self-help book and an opinion article in the NY Times. But as I kept reading, either the writing style changed or I got used to it. I actually quite enjoyed the book by the end.

I think that as Angel looked back further and further into her life, she was looking back at a happier her. I think the writing style might have been intentionally almost aggressively “witty” at the beginning, and as we saw younger and happier versions of her the style was less jarring.
Once I realized that I actually quite liked how the style changed through the book, and I appreciated the style in the beginning as well.
