I loved this. The concept is beautiful and unique, and allows us to end on the best part: the potential.

Whilst this book has a tendency to be a tad heavy handed on the cringey cliche, and sometimes feels like you're being dragged through wrambling prose simply for its beautiful metric, I found this book comforting and revealing all at once. I felt immediately connected with the main character and Hayes' writing was accessible in a way that felt like I could have been reading a collection of my own short stories throughout life. For the complicated narrative structure of the book it was a pleasant surprise that the author did not hold your hand throughout the rewinding chapters, allowing you to infer progress and development from the writing. It was skillfully written in that if you do not think about it, Hayes makes it seem like a breeze. The plot is airtight and the backwards structure is interesting and rarely confusing for the reader.
