We demons are all alike. We covet pretty things, corrupt what is pure and whole, take what we can never have.
5+ stars!
I hate myself for putting this off for so long; it was AMAZING!!!! I didn't think I was going to like Layla as much as I loved Jasmine in BSL, but she ended up being a pretty kickass heroine herself, which I love. She had some traces of TSTL syndrome, but her tenacity and courage allowed me to overlook those moments.
And Roth! ♡ Oh my Roth, there are no words to express my love for him. He is absolutely so much more than just another Crown Prince, and he is one of my new favorite book boyfriends. Gardening, a love for Disney characters and tattoos, piercings in all the right places.....need I say more??
And then there's Zayne, sigh. I really didn't like him as a character or love interest AT ALL. I thought he was an overbearing, selfish prick with jackass tendencies and was nowhere near good enough for Layla. He kept her in the dark about nearly everything, betrayed her to his father, and treated Layla like a helpless child. Sure he may have had her best intentions at heart, but I couldn't see past his condescending attitude to the character we were supposed to admire. Team Roth!!
Overall, I REALLY ENJOYED this novel (no surprise there). I hate the cliffy, so I'm kinda glad I waited till all 3 books were out to start this series--zero wait time! ;)
My Roth, the snarky and sexy Crown Prince of Hell with a piercing or two... ♡

This author definitely does the best job of making you want to meet, love, and give your entire heart too, aliens, gargoyles, and demons. OK, there are no aliens in this book, but I'm still a little hung up on The last series ;-) although I think this series has the potential to be just as fabulous. I think it is just the fabulous character development, Layla, you just instantly like the girl. Then you have the fabulous sidekicks her friends, I mean they just go with it, yes she's a bit quirky but they're her friends no matter what! Of course you can't forget the boys, hot boys, both with an interest, but don't worry about a love triangle, there appears to be a clear winner, and the other one can't ever really physically get involved. A fabulous start to a series that I plan on continuing.
Gah, JLA sure knows how to leave a girl hanging!
I love having authors who I know will not disappoint me with their books. Jennifer Armentrout is definitely one of those authors for me, I seriously have not come across a book by her that I dont end up loving.
In White Hot Kiss, through the eyes of Layla, we are introduced to a whole new world. A world in which Gargoyles are real. And badass. And hottt. Enter not going to happen childhood crush Zayne aka hottie number one. Layla has been raised with Wardens (gargoyles). She has her own backstory and skills, I like her and I feel she makes a strong MC. She is half demon half warden but she has been raised by the wardens to hate demons. In the Wardens eyes demons are the embodiment of all things evil. Makes since.
Enter impossible love interest Roth aka hottie number number two aka most important hottie.
Let's just get this out of the way now. I am Team Roth, all the way. It better happen.
Obviously the romance is hot and steamy but yes there is a triangle. While Roth is the epitome of schmexiness, Zayne is the boy next door. The crushing after Zayne is more angsty and jealousy filled which I find fun to read. Apparently I like self pity. The romance makes up a big part of the story but there is also a lot of things Layla finds out about herself that lead her to find out that the Wardens haven't been telling her everything. Someone seems to have a hidden agenda.
The writing and pace of the story is greatly done. I easily lost myself in the pages and when I came back up at the end I scrambled to find out when the next book will be out.
October. Freaking October.
I liked it, but I didn't love it. I wanted to, but at times I thought it was a bit long.
I loved getting the little glimpses of Jasmine from the first story, but at the same time, I didn't feel like her appearance with Danika really added anything into this story. I didn't get the drama. I also wasn't overly fond of Stacey, but maybe some more of her to see more of Layla's human side?
The love triangle? I guess I didn't see it quite as much. I really did want less action devoted to that, and some more of the gargoyles. That is the aspect that originally drew me in to this series, because it was original, and I wanted to see more of that. I'll read the next one, because I want to know what happens to Roth. I liked him far more than Zayne.

In all honesty this book started a little slow for me. It wasn’t until about half way through when I started to get really interested in what was going on. As usual with any Jennifer Armentrout series I find myself grabbing for the next book in the series immediately after finishing the first!
~ Okay. Hold on. I’m SHOCKED by how much I actually liked this?! Not that I thought it would be bad but I’ve only ever read her FBAA series (and prequels) so I wasn’t sure if everything would be my taste. I really loved every single nostalgic YA vibe this book had yet it was still uniquely interesting in its own way!

Love me some JLA!!
This woman is a genius. This book was my first gargoyle story, it was actually interesting and fun. I really enjoyed the story and I haven’t really read anything like it before. I’m also not a fan of urban fantasy but this was fantastic.
I loved the MC, and the rest of the crew. There was a little bit of a triangle, but it wasn’t bad at all, I actually really liked it.
Very excited for the next one!!
