DNF at 75% read, something I’ve really never done, but this book was all over the place and I just could not bring myself to care. Should have stopped reading sooner

This is a good summer read. The characters are well developed and the story is interesting. The story started out a little slow, and then the ending felt a little rushed. There were a couple of moments that I had to suspend a little belief about, but because I enjoyed the story, I just accepted it.

I received this book as a Goodreads Giveaway from Flatiron Books. The review is my honest opinion.

Loved !!!! I think it’s rare that a character driven book has so much force behind it, but I was hooked the whole time. Lots of twists that I didn’t suspect, and it all came together very interestingly !!

“What good was thinking the future only held cloudy skies? Wasn’t the reality that pieces of blue were always there, waiting to break through?”

A Welsh widow starts afresh in Hawaii; along with her three children, she purchased an aging motel on a whim with her late husband’s insurance money; a former patron of the hotel comes to visit and before long he means something to the family; but is he really who he says he is?

It was entertaining enough with some mystery to keep me reading, but all the build up on some stories fell flat with no exciting ending (when it came to the kids stories at least). Book only became exciting last 50 pages.
Was not impressed with writers descriptors. Felt like a rough draft or came from an inexperienced writer.
