Amazing series. So well researched and well written. I'm convinced that Bodie and Brock are the perfect team for writing books. It has everything that I love (music and European history) all in one. This series also just gets better with every book! Highly recommended.

I'm glad it "ended" even though there are 3 other books in the series. I didn't want to have to start book 4 right now to know how things turned out. It was an interesting first three books. As I read this one, I saw many parallels to the current Syrian refugee crisis.

This whole series was well-written historical fiction about a family of Jews in WW2. The main character was a cellist - the series follows her through her many moves to stay ahead of being caught. My only complaint (as it is categorized as religious fiction) is that a strong theme is the conversion of Jews to Christianity. Seemed unnecessary to the storyline, but, of course, important to that genre.

I am enjoying this series. For some reason, I am drawn to books, about these dark hours in history.
I am reading a kindle book, and for some reason book content(chapters) is not accessible. Buyers beware.

The thing that impressed me the most about this book is the Thoene's ability to weave in the stories of other characters while still telling the compelling stories of the original characters. That ability helps them extend their series far beyond what they would otherwise reach if they centered on the lives of just a few main characters.
While there are aspects of this book that stretch the limit of suspension of disbelief (aka things working out uncannily (though not perfectly) for almost all of the main characters) I still enjoyed this light, easy work of Christian historical fiction.
This book (as will the others, no doubt) will stay on my shelf. Unfortunately, there are far too few other works of decent Christian fiction.
