Loving this series so much. Maggie returns to town and comes face to face with her ex Rhett. He did a bad thing years ago, can he prove he’s changed and win her back? Lovely cameos from previous books characters, great storyline, funny lol moments and a nice HEA. These books are like a hug that draws you into the lives of the characters. So so good

I’m a sucker for a second chance romance, and then add in the fact that he’s a bull rider and the town player? I’m so in!
This was a cute book, but I just couldn’t get on board. My first issue was the reason they split up. However H’s have come back from worse and won me over. The issue was everyone was acting like she was crazy for not jumping right back into his arms. I almost felt like she was a victim of gaslighting during most of the book. Rhett was starting to win me over until he called her mom and told her that she needed to forgive her mom and best friend (both of whom treated the h horribly) in order to prove some crap to him that she could be forgiving.
Magnolia “Maggie” Gibson is back in her small town of Cottonwood Falls. She wants to buy the salon, but she has to show the owner that she’s capable of running it on her own. The problem is that her ex, who broke her heart years ago, is in town, and he can’t stay away from her.
Rhett Griffen is a playboy, and everyone knows it. But when he sees Maggie again, he just wants a second chance with her. He tries his best to prove to her that he’s no longer the POS he was when they were younger, but it’s hard when everyone talks about how he always has another woman in his bed.
I probably should have realized that the reason he broke Maggie’s heart was because he cheated. His reason was stupid. And Maggie refused to give in for a very short time, then it seemed like she instantly forgave him. But when she’d hear other women talking about him, then she’d go back to pushing him away. She was indecisive and kept going back and forth. Personally, I felt like Rhett needed to do more groveling BEFORE Maggie forgave him. I don’t know what it was, but I couldn’t connect with these characters at all.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy second chance romance. But the initial break up has to be for a good reason. And if Maggie hadn’t been so back and forth over whether to forgive Rhett and/or trust him, then I wouldn’t have been so irritated with her.
Spoiler
So Rhett proposed to Maggie right after they graduated (if I recall correctly), and she said no. Obviously, that doesn’t mean she’s breaking up with him. But he was so “hurt” that he went out and f*cked someone else RIGHT AFTER SHE SAID NO. She went back to tell him she changed her mind and found in bed with someone else. So. He had a stupid excuse. And the real reason was because he really was a playboy and wasn’t ready to settle down.
Kelsie’s book are so easy to devour. I love the small town feel and characters and how it includes plus size representation. This second chance romance had me swooning at times and also had some good spice. Overall I enjoyed it and just felt a few times the prose got a bit repetitive with some details.
