Kelsie Hoss hit it out of the park with this one. I fell for Rhett in her previous two books but he and Magnolia are couple goals this time for sure. Not sure you can have a better southern romance name than Rhett or Magnolia - and the way Magnolia came back to her hometown to take over the salon? Rhett sacrificing for her over and over again?! I can’t even with these two!

I love how sweet Rhett is with the kids. And he was so willing to wait for Magnolia and I was here for it. 🩷

I think it's just Rhett that I really, really don't like. He's an immature asshole and doesn't care about anyone or anything. What made me lose it was when he broke his phone on an impulse to somehow "prove" he was devoted to 'the one that got away' after a girl he hooked up with showed up at his house. After he gets a new smart phone, he hands it to his sister and demands her to put in all the family numbers but leave him out of the softball team's group chat because he doesn't give a fuck what flavor juice the girls have after the game... what a absolute tool.
Not to mention how much of a dick he was to his "best friend" in the last book. He talked shit about Fletch TO HIS FACE and to his sister. Rhett sucks!
Willing to keep up with the series as long as Rhett is kept faaaaar out of the spotlight.

This one has not been my favorite of the series so far. It took me a lot longer to finish this one for some reason, but I think that might also be because I’ve kind of had a rough week. The story was still fun and the characters are still lovable. But I don’t feel like their story captivated me as much as the last five couples did.
All in all, I still liked the book. Rhett has been a favorite character throughout the series and I was looking forward to his story, but I honestly felt like it fell flat in comparison to the previous stories. I guess I expected more from the playboy.

Magnolia Gibson (Maggie) has returned to her hometown in hopes of buying the town's salon. While she's glad to be home, she runs the risk of crossing paths with the boy who broke her heart so many years ago. In fact, he just so happens to be her first appointment on her first day.
Rhett Griffen has spent years working to make himself worthy of Maggie after their disastrous breakup. When she returns to town, he knows this will be his only shot.
Maggie and Rhett have great chemistry together. One of my favorite things about a well-done second chance romance is when the author brings this grudge-holding reader around to root for the hero who fucked up to begin with. Kelsie Hoss did that and I think I Rhett might be my favorite hero of this series, giving Knox a run for his money.
In terms of body positivity, I love the sense of identity and belonging you get with a Kelsie Hoss read. Hoss is so good at writing the lived experiences of plus sized women and the heroes who worship them. There is no ambiguity about the heroine's "curves". Her heroines are explicitly plus sized (i.e. Maggie is a size 24 with stretch marks and an apron belly). I love seeing this body diversity in romance and - as a plus size woman - being able to identify with the protagonist.
If you're into a small town romance with a blue collar hero and some outdoor hookups, this one is a great choice!

Hello Heartbreak finishes up the story of the Griffen's as we get to read Rhett's story with his high school sweetheart, Magnolia Gibson. Fifteen years after the worst heartbreak of her life, Maggie reluctantly moves back to Cottonwood Falls, with her best friend, Cam. Having the opportunity to buy and run her own salon is more doable in the small community.
The first time we meet Rhett, he's going to get a haircut that she "accidently" butchers. Okay, she still holds a grudge, but who can blame her? He did her dirty, but he's determined to prove he's changed and win her back.
As with the rest of the series, we get our favorite supporting characters, including the Griffen's and the Madigan's. I love how the stories intertwine and everyone is very likeable. I can say in this one though, it takes a bit longer to like Maggie, as she is very good at holding grudges. Even though Rhett was a douche years ago, you kind of feel for him in this one. We get to witness him ride at the rodeo, watch Cam fall in love with Rhett's bestie, Cooper and see both Maggie and Rhett get everything they've dreamed of. Maggie gets her salon and Rhett buys a ton of land.
Of course, we get the classic HEA that we all love. I enjoyed this one very much.
