3⭐️ that was just cute

There is just something about this book that makes me upset, I read the first one a while back and loved it.

But book 2 is officially my stopping point for the series. I’m not sure what changed from book one to book two. But it feels disconnected, nothing made sense.

The epilogue gives one idea, that is undone by the first chapter, this book was the longest final trimester ever read.

We come off the high of brother’s best friend, to somehow flop on sister’s best friend.

This was my first book by this author and while I could have read the first book to understand some of the characters better it wasn’t necessary.

I really liked this one! Riley has had a crush on her best friend’s older brother her whole life not knowing he’s kind of had a thing for her. It’s years later and Riley is pregnant and alone. Nash steps up to help her. Riley not only has some pregnancy complications but she has insurance issues. So Nash offers to marry her for his health insurance

Honestly plot line wasn’t even bad. The story was cute and lighthearted without any major conflict between the two characters so it was an easy wholesome read in that sense. The writing was just absolutely trash and kept taking me out of the story. The amount of times the exact same phrase was used over and over again in a single scene, the way multiple things and moments were described the same way as another, the AMOUNT OF TIMES THE FMCS LIPS “rolled between her teeth” I can’t. It was absurd. I also didn’t like the fact that ch 27 existed at all. Literally zero need for it. Made me feel like I was rage reading from then on because of how unnecessary that entire section was. You could read the whole book without EVER NEEDING IT AND WOULDN'T MISS A THING. There’s also imo a huge plot hole when it comes to Chad but whatever. Not the worst book I’ve read but definitely does nothing for the pregnancy trope
