4.13 AVERAGE

Hooked! I love the mix of adventure and typical contemporary romance vibes.

I love how Elizabeth O’Roark always gives her characters a past that affects them and they have to work through. Love it.

I never need much convincing to read a EOR book but this author sure pulled me in with a Kilimanjaro blurb, and pulled me in further with a convincing read of all the stages and difficulties. These two MCs were an initial hard sell but quick win once put in a tent together.

The enemies banter between these two was strong because Miller was Kit’s sisters ex. I was leery of that initially but these two made me want them to overcome the humps in the road. Miller was the character in the spotlight for me, his care underneath the ebbing barbs was easy to see and I loved the sense of him falling first (long ago). The initial brattish spoilt nature of Kit fell away as time progressed, she recognised her privilege in herself and didn’t like it.

The plot was just fantastic, the mountain half was fast-paced chemistry and peril but the second half ended up being just as much of a page turner as the first half. The family complications and characterisations were complex and the backdrop for togetherness issues; I loved reading them navigate this.

Sad as I was the Elizabeth O’Roarks previous books were over, I’m super happy this series starter is such a winner.

I will return to Elizabeth O'Roark whenever I need a solid contemporary romance. Didn't like this one as much as my previous read (The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea), but it is still a solid book. Even though I never buy in to pining over such a long period time, I did come to love the main characters and their relationship.
