Exciting, gripping plot full of action and plenty of battle. Perfect for boys that are beginning to feel like books are for girls. Some words and phrases can be a little hard to decipher, but the fast-moving plot allows you to guess the meaning behind the words.

This is a brilliant dramatization with great acting and sound production. Treasure Island is a classic worthy of the title and this treatment did it justice. If you're looking for a good audio drama, here it is.
I was all over this book when I was a kid. I should read it again, as I pretty much don't remember it, except that I thought it was amazing in 6th grade.
Excellent cast/acting. It was great getting to know the original (as much as a fully casted and produced audio play can really be the original) story that has inspired so many others. Stevenson’s writing definitely shone through.

Absolutely loved this narration of an old classic by Audible Original
Having grown up with various adaptations of this story (Treasure Planet anyone?) I was worried I wouldn't end up liking the source material, but I was not disappointed. Shorter and much more accessible than I thought, this classic is a fast paced story of pirates and treasures and adventure. Mostly narrated by young Jim Hawkins, we get to follow along as a map ends up in his and his future crew's hands which is supposed to lead them to Treasure Island.
Nothing was really that surprising (except for the fact that I thought the journey would last for longer), but maybe that's because I already know the story. Being familiar with it didn't diminish my enjoyment of it, however. Instead, it was like coming home. Images of Treasure Planet, The Legend of Treasure Island (a series from 1993 I believe) and Black Sails kept flashing in my mind, but despite my connection to it through other types of media, I think the book held its own without them as well. With extremely accessible language, its quick pace, and of course the more action-packed scenes, I managed to read this in two days; something that probably has never happened to me when a classic has been involved. I must say the middle dragged on a bit, and I didn't enjoy the few chapters where we suddenly switched narrators, though I understood the purpose, but all in all I had a great time reading this and I recommend it to anyone who likes a good old adventure story.
