It may have been my fault for going into this book with such high expectations, but I’d heard so much about Agatha Christie being the queen of murder mysteries. To be honest, I was disappointed. The nature of the murders in this book were boring and generic. The end reveal was not at all shocking and the whole book was very predictable. Poirot was honestly not very impressive and Hastings did absolutely nothing the whole book. Maybe im just biased towards Sherlock Holmes but he really seems to be a better detective.

With that said, I do still want to read a few other Agatha Christie works, such as And Then There We’re None and Murder on the Orient Express. Hopefully I like those ones more.

i love an agatha christie book & this one did not disappoint! while it was a different structure from what i am used to with her (more classic whodunnit in an enclosed space), i still enjoyed it. i love a great mystery and this one was fun!

it was a bit slow to get into, and i did have to pause reading it and switch to an audiobook. once it hit the halfway mark, things really picked up and i was hooked.

i love the cleverness of pirot & the twists & turns christie takes us on.
i am glad the murderer wasn’t actually alexander bonaparte, because that would have felt unfulfilling and boring, especially since we got his pov throughout the book

i did not love hastings as a character and found his narration to be a bit distracting & pulled me out of the story.

overall, this was a fun read and as always, loved the big reveal that pirot does at the end to unveil the murderer.

Agatha Christie is a genius. Wow. I never know who the murderer is!

★3/5★
