Initially, I loved the premise of “The ABC Murders” and thought that it was structured in such a unique way, unlike the Agatha Christie style that I had become accustomed to. However, I found the middle chunk of the book a bit… dull. As a lover of fast-paced and action-packed mysteries, I was bored by the lack of momentum and how drawn out the build up felt, and ended up literally falling asleep halfway through the book.
I definitely enjoyed the beginning and the end a lot more, and I was pleased once it picked up pace at around 65%. (Slight spoilers?) I was convinced that this mystery was a “howdunit” instead of a “whodunit”, and I thought that Christie had revealed the killer to us at the beginning; I was wrong. I was shocked to find out who the real killer was– the real mastermind behind the murders was not on my radar at all. Overall I would rate this book 3 out of 5 stars; still a good read, however, not my favourite Christie mystery.

This was my first Agatha Christie book, and I have to say it was extremely well written and a lot of fun. I'll definitely be checking out another.
