I literally couldn’t put this down. I read it NONSTOP. I read it at work, I read it in line at target to do a return, I read it while we waited for dinner- I COULD NOT STOP. It was so fricking good!!! SO dark and sad and just amazing. I had a hard time with the lack of contractions in the speaking parts (why does this bother me?!?!) but maybe it’s bc they’re Irish? Do Irish people not use contractions? I can’t imagine this would bother any normal reader. HIGHLY recommend, if you can handle the dark. And it’s best to go into it blind (what I assumed was happening is NOT what was happening, but I don’t know why I assumed it in the first place?) But yeah, kidnap and abuse are not explicit but you def know they happen. SO GOOD.

My poor, poor babies 😭 the ending is heartbreaking. And to think there could be another girls out there who is going through this rn, at the very moment we might never find out about it. Jesus, holy fuck, yearssss for yearssss they're suffering at the hand of these cruel, cruel men. Fuuuuckk most of the men in this book 😭 they're either so damn annoying or evil. All that progress... everything ruined because of them assholes. I hate them so much.
Anyway, I really like the ending. It's very unique to my reading experience. Although my biggest gripe about this book is that it has so many, like SO MANY telling rather than showing. It's both this book pro and con. Pro: the story is easy to follow because of its simple and straightforward writing style. Con: the prose is TOO simple and not in the least impactful to me—especially during an extremely emotional scene—and I'm a huge cry baby. But overall, I like it. I think it's engaging enough to follow through until the end.
