Strange Sally Diamond is a significantly darker version of Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. Within the first 50 pages, you are told what happened to Sally, so there is no mystery element in the book; it focuses on Sally recovering from severe trauma. I would only recommend this book to readers who are in the space to handle highly triggering topics of abuse in various forms. Strange Sally Diamond was an interesting character study on socialization. While I agree that the ending is frustrating, I also feel like it's realistic. However, I still thought the ending was rushed, and I would have liked to see more character development from Sally in the final part of the novel. Overall, Strange Sally Diamond made me think about what it means to be appropriately socialized, and how mainstream ideas of what is appropriate may not always be in someone's best interest.
