I almost put this one down at the halfway point, as I didn't see the point in continuing.

Sally Diamond is strange because a lot of traumatic things happened to her in her early years. She is probably autistic and definitely has PTSD and emotional development issues. This makes it difficult for her to be around people. But when her father dies she makes an effort to socialise and gets a job.

There is no thrilling elements here, no mystery. It's a sad, dark, depressing story about someone who went through a difficult time and is trying to get by in the world. But instead of offering us hope and change, instead we are left with someone who is right back where they started by the end of the book.

It's pointless. It was a quick read, I guess. But I don't think I've gained anything from having read this book. Disappointing.

After her father’s unexpected passing, Sally Diamond finds herself unexpectedly thrown into the spotlight. Going from a recluse to being the most interesting person in the village is a bit traumatic to start with, but Sally starts to come out of her shell and embrace the new changes. She even makes some friends!
One day she receives a parcel which throws everything into chaos. As we delve into Sally’s past, we uncover the truth about her upbringing.
I enjoyed this book, and it did hook me in as I needed to know what was going to happen next.
I found Sally to be an endearing character, and I could relate to some aspects she found challenging. I didn’t enjoy the ending so much (was a bit abrupt) and occasionally Sally’s characterisation felt a bit stereotypical.

I found the underlying concept of this story captivating, but I’m not entirely sure if the execution was entirely successful.

This was a multilayered read featuring different POVs.
