I borrowed this book for no reason. On the QLL Libby library and I would say it is probably one of my favorite books of all time. It embodies me in a way both women (to a certain extent), Africans, both beaten and robbed of culture and heritage, both angry at the countries that subjugated us. Though I was not abandoned by my father or raped I understand her. We are connected and I feel that reading and listening to this book, to her story. This book is everything.
Graphic: Colonisation, War, Violence, Rape, Homophobia, Sexual assault, and Racism
Moderate: Mental illness, Suicidal thoughts, Religious bigotry, Lesbophobia, Sexual content, and Self harm
Minor: Pedophilia, Abandonment, Genocide, and Xenophobia

Thanks to NetGalley for giving me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!
This was a gruesome and raw collection of poems that hit really hard. It was a great collection that I loved reading, and for a debut poetry book, it was a solid collection and I really hope the author writes more!
