My first book by Giana Darling and I love loved loved this book. She gives us a beautifully written dark academia/sapphic romance that gives you all the emotions and feelings you look for while reading these—also, who doesn’t love a Medusa inspired read?! This book starts off with a BANG and was full of dark and delicious rage and revenge!!!!

The writing was perfection as well as the entire plot/storyline. All of the characters in this book were so well developed and their dialogue was just perfection. I ate this book up from cover to cover and refused to stop reading until I was finished. This book will absolutely have you thinking about it days after you read it.

Please make sure to check your triggers as usual before going into this book but this book I will be recommending to my fellow book readers and this should be on your TBR if these tropes are your jam!

I can’t tell you how much I adored this book
The writing is just incredible, I highlighted so many quotes that I know I won’t stop thinking about for a long time!

5 stars no question about it. I always know a book is five stars when I laugh, cry, scream in frustration only to then kick my feet with excitement a couple chapters later

My heart was broken and sewn back together so many times I don’t know if recovery is even possible

If you’re the light, I’m the darkness. Violence becomes me like kindness does you.”

I don’t really have much to compare this to, in terms of sapphic romances. But as far as Giana Darling books go, this was one was great. Not the easiest sapphic romance to start with, but still a good read.

The subject matter, I think might be triggering for some individuals, so reading with caution is super important here, but I think Lex & Luna’s story, trauma aside was adorable.

I definitely enjoyed it. Still, i can recognize that there were moments with the dialogue seemed outright pretentious and weird ie. Lex saying she tastes like “salted pasta water…” really?

There are also glaring plot issues, like Lex & Luna both being daughters of women who were supposedly best friends & somehow having never met, Beckett getting away with assaulting Luna & the fact that Lex is covered in snakes and the symbol for the vigilante group being snakes, yet nobody seemed to put it together.

In any case, I think the story was enjoyable despite its dark themes and slight faults. Even if you couldn’t relate to Lex’s trauma per se, the feminine rage here was real and i think we’ve all been there at some point or other.
