In some ways this was better than the first book, but in some ways it wasn't better. It was less gruesome, but had more real terror.

People, once again, are the real monsters in the world. This was infuriating to read,
and I can't wait to read all about Quinn getting her revenge.

A great sequel to a great slasher type book. Very cult-like. Felt like a prequel that was really needed in order to have a third, if that makes sense. Already pre-ordered the third.

Very rarely do I like a sequel (unless it's a YA girl 12-14 series) and I can say with my whole chest this is equal to the original. It's fun and frightening in the best way. The characters from the first book expanded in ways that didn't chastise the original material.
The introduction or Jerri was so good and her story was a perfect introduction into the original three's story. The relationship she had with Ms. Reyes was complex to say the least.
'You do deserve this.' will stick around in my head for a while.

Can't wait for the next chapter of this story.

Crying score: nope

Not as thrilling or vicious as the first, but it is still an exceptional horror YA about fraudulent conspiracy theories, mob mentality, and the effects of using said lies to target disenfranchised victims.

I really enjoyed Clown in a Cornfield as a smart piece of YA horror; it was a book that never talked down to its audience but kept its foot on the gas when it came to its slasher elements. So I wasn't surprised per se to find myself in love with Clown in a Cornfield 2: Frendo Lives, but I was very impressed at the framing device Cesare used to expand his universe. Clown in a Cornfield 2 uses its slasher foundation to tell a story about social media disinformation and violent conspiracy theories, and it allows the book to feel even more dangerous than the original - and even more timely.
