Just when I was ready to try heading into a corn maze again, here comes Adam Cesare. I enjoyed the first installment so much I was a bit worried about a sequel. But it was all for naught. I loved the direction this sequel took!
Everything I enjoyed about the style, setting, and use of generational divides from the first was on full display here. Cesare pushed the limits by incorporating the sheer insanity driven by social media. The divides are bigger, the tempo is higher, and the plot is spot on. His attention to trauma and PTSD is as excellent as his gore.
This pair of books has quickly turned Kettle Springs into this generation's Woodsboro. Frendo can hang with the likes of Ghostface, Michael Myers, and Jason Voorhees. Keep them coming!

THIS BOOK HAD EVERYTHINGG!!!! I loved it!!!!! FRENDO is really becoming a horror icon and after the news of the movie for the first book, cant wait to see him on the big screen. I know people get very touchy on sequels of movies or book trilogies but i think this was a great sequel. Off the first chapters, stuff was happening and even introduced to a few more characters but it not like an icebreaker thing, it felt natural to put them in the story, especially Jerri. Jerri story was so sad, that flashback of how her sister died was heartbreaking but definitely leaves a lot of foreshadowing. I loved that we get the trio back early in the book and see their dynamic even after the events of the first book. I love that there were still moments of wondering who the clowns were and their motive play out. It always kept me on my toes and made me gasp in the frendo/clown moments. The second half just like in the first book had many of the violent, big reveals which i loved so much. The pacing of this book didnt feel rushed like it was a good speed. I will say the though there were moments of different povs that were confusing but, i was able to keep up and went in hand with the pacing so didnt mind it after a while. My only con honestly, everything was awesome!! Cant wait for the 3rd and final book!!

Thoroughly enjoyed this sequel! Thank you to NetGalley and thank you to HarperTeen for giving Adam more clown terror air time!

This is the 90s slasher film in text (in all its trope & splendor) and I really really hope publishers keep letting Adam make YA horror!

I gladly welcome Clown in a Cornfield 3 and volunteer as tribute to read it before pub date.

4.0 .
I enjoyed this one even more than the first!
Cleverly written, with not so subtle parallels to the absolute shitstorm that happened Jan. 6th here in the USA. The fact that this mob, and "internet warriors" were all dressed as and worship a clown was not lost on me.
Some of the callbacks to people from the first book I really enjoyed, and there was one in particular that I did not see coming.
Bring on "The Church of Frendo"!
