A reflective memoir following Anika Fajardo and her journey with establishing her relationship with her Colombian family and the country itself. Touched on some common themes and emotions regarding dual cultural identities. Some quite poignant and beautiful writing throughout but nothing entirely groundbreaking. I liked seeing magical realism discussed in memoir but don’t entirely agree with her take on the genre / wish there was some more nuance.

Beautifully written. I almost felt like I was reading poetry. Explores themes of home, family, and belonging.
