These make me want to go back and read James Patterson's other novels.
Out of all the books I managed to get through of this series, I must say that this is the one that gave me the most chills, the only one I couldn't put down without itching to pick it back up after a minute.

As the 5th book in the series, I like the characters. Although there are some elements that are getting stale (aka, old). The premise of the story is excellent and the reader is drawn into the mystery. I found myself trying to figure out 'who done it'. However, this book seemed to have a number of ideas for a story that lacked connection and creative thought. This is the problem with serial stories. The authors seem to toss a bunch of stuff together and call it a book. Repeating storylines from previous books or repeating dialogue within the same book just seems to be an effort to fill the pages.
As an example of lack of thought process, the parents of a 5 year old boy are forced to leave the hospital because visiting hours were over… despite his plea not to be left alone. It's been a long time since my boys were little. But in 1992, I spent the night in my son's hospital room. This is a book that was written in 2008. Not likely, a boy would be expected to stay without a parent. I share this detail because it does not give away the content of the mystery. It just serves as an example of lack of effort to make a great book vs. fill pages.
Alright, I am done complaining. I will read the next book in the series. If there is more of the same, I don't see me getting to the latest book numbered 21. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I don't read crime novels that often, even though I enjoy them and I was really surprised with this book.
I have heard some really good things about James Patterson so when I Saw this I thought I would take a chance and read it. It was so worth it!
The book is based on two stories which are intertwined with the characters so that there is a link between them and throughout the book. I read the last half of the book so fast as I had to know what happened. well worth the read.
