I really enjoyed this lovely romance. I think I'm becoming a fan of the Ice Queen trope. Maybe I always have been but didn't realize it until right now... I did fall in love with Radley's Holly series so maybe I've been in denial this whole time!

Anyway, Broken Beyond Repair held my attention all the way through, the characters felt complex and real, and I loved them and cheered for them.

For the most part, the language was beautiful. I love a romance that uses more complex vocabulary. My only complaint was the regular descriptions of what someone's lips were doing. Being pulled in, pressed together, slid to the side, etc to express some emotion when it was already implied or could have been in another way. Seems small but repetitive mentions of anything will pull me out of a story so it was a bigger deal for me. Not a deal breaker but not nothing...

Still, I will most definitely read other works by Banting. Loved this one!

What a wonderful book. Immediately going into my favourites. I love a slow burn, and this was brilliant. So much humour and emotion, and such loveable characters. A must read.

My demi heart delighted in the fact that even though they found each other attractive, their relationship deepened and developed as they got to know each other.

SpoilerI also appreciated that there was no big fight that separated them before the inevitable ending. When Beatrice no longer needed Sydney as an employee, they reluctantly parted ways.

I wasn't a fan of a scouple of things that happened in the book and they affected my rating.

Found it delightful - but the end seemed to drag on to the point of being too self-referential and cheesy. The first 87% read like a real story with (somewhat) real (for the genre) characters, and the remaining just felt like a self-insert fanfic. Worth the read, but I had to tap out after the resolution when it…just kept going.
