I am so conflicted with this one yall. On one had, Sullivan had me blowing through it like it was nobody's business. On the other, I felt like "this is all" by the end of it? Do not get me wrong, I am so going to reading the next one, but I am so sad.

An enjoyable and action-packed continuation of the story.

I especially enjoyed the women's stories this time around. Getting to see into the lives of the dwarves was nice, too.

The prince's story was pretty predictable, but no less entertaining because of that.

Just like with Age of Myth, Age of Swords is a solidly written epic fantasy novel that I really enjoyed. Sequels can sometimes be a little disappointing, but this one really ramped up the intrigue and developed the main characters in an entertaining way. It's well-paced and I was never bored – I listened to the graphic audio like I did for book #1 and so far it's been a real success. I love the production and full cast of narrators that truly bring all the characters to life, it makes it that much easier for all their different personalities to shine through.

The second novel is bringing the epic up a notch – there are clans meeting, adventures across the sea, conspiracies brewing, and even though it is always quite predictable, Sullivan has the same flavour as Brandon Sanderson for me where I find it a comforting kind of predictable. I'm happy to be here for the ride along with all these characters that I've grown attached to. Highly recommend if you have read Age of Myth and are on the fence about continuing on, book #2 is quite a lot better in my opinion (I listened to it in about 3 days, which is unheard of for me)!

The last 20% is 4/5 good, the rest is fine but slow. I thought after all the groundwork in book 1 we'd see some more plot development, but instead we see how a character invented the wheel. No really.
