I absolutely loved this story! It pulled me in from beginning to end because of the characters. We get to meet Nikko and Inara when he steps in to do the right thing and helps Inara out with a drugged out jerk that won't leave her alone in the bar. It ends up causing repercussions for Nikko as his family has had rumors spread about them for years and years. I loved the connection that Nikko and Inara had from the beginning. When he goes to her for a little help trying to figure out where the new stray dug up the bone, it starts things off between them. Inara won't let the rumors around town change her opinion of him as she has already seen something different. I loved how things developed in this story. It was entertaining and engaging throughout the whole book. There is a mystery that Inara and Nikko are trying to solve and things keep getting in the way. I loved the way that the animals came into play in this story as well. I loved getting to know both of their families in this book and can't wait for more in the series. This story had a perfect balance between action and intrigue and romance/relationship. It was all blended very well together and the entire story flowed very smoothly. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I had to know what was going to happen next and to see these two characters get their happy ending. This was a great first book in the series and I can't wait for more!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
