You will cry and you will sob and a piece of you will never be the same (in the best of ways)
Truly an amazing love story. I rarely cry while reading but this one was one of the first books to ever make me cry

I watched the movie when it first came out and when I learned there was a book I bought it almost immediately. However, I put off reading it for a very long time. There's not a particular reason I just never got around to it. I had picked it up a few times but would get distracted or pick something else up.
I love this plot. I love Lou. I love Will. I hate their families.
However, I found this book extremely difficult to get through. I can't pinpoint an exact reason. I think the style of writing was just a little drawn out when it didn't need to be. I loved the perspectives and change of point of view. I just for whatever reason did not love the book. I liked it a lot but I just didn't love it.
I think the message is beautiful and the ending is poignant. I like that it wasn't happily ever after but I understand that it could be problematic for promoting education about disabilities. Everyone is different though and if you keep in mind this is a fictional story about one person's life I think it's okay.
I was surprised to find the movie and the book was pretty similar. I think the book provided more insight on why Lou is the way she is but other than that I felt the characters portrayed were spot-on for the film.

i’m proud to say i didn’t get weepy until the last sentence epilogue!! the way this was written you could sympathize easily with lou and the family, but also completely understand how certain will was in his choices. i love that lou was a lot more layered than just a cheery girl with all frills, she was intelligent and brave and funny and kind :,)
