I read this third after reading Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight. I feel like that really is such a good place to read it. While it was hard not to move on to Heir of Fire right away. Getting to know Celena in the first 2 books it made learning about her past more fun to hear detailed stories about things she mentioned in the first two books. It made everything make more sense so that can be a pro or a con for not reading it first but more of the emotions made sense than the events. The context isn't needed for the first 2 books per say but the emotions help you understand Celena better. Overall cool prequel and I'm excited to move forward to Heir of Fire!
