This was such a cute read. We all enjoyed the adventure and suspense of this story, and watching Emerelda come into her own and the relationships grow was a pleasure.

I read this as a kid and my stupid ass started with this book. But I actually picked up on the story really quick and I’ve read this whole series except the first book so...

Highly enjoyable for an 8-14 year old girl still enchanted by dragons and magic.

Following the adventures in "The Frog Princess", Emma and Eadric have transformed from their froggy forms and are once again human. Emma's aunt, Grassina, has been reunited with her long lost love Haywood, but trouble is brewing. A neighboring kingdom is threatening Greensward and the resident witch, Grassina, is too distracted by Haywood to be of any help. Emma and Eadric embark on a journey to change Haywood from otter to man (a nasty spell put on him by Grassina's mother) and save the kingdom.

Emma remains a courageous, heartfelt heroine who is slowly growing into her powers and womanhood. I look forward to finishing the series, and definitely recommend it to fans of fairy tales.

I love how this series just progresses so well. It's fast paced and easy to read, but it feels like Emma grows with each book.

Same as the book before it, The Frog Princess. The characters are hilarious, but the plot is just cute and entertaining. A little more excitement in this one than the one before it. Worth reading, for sure.

This book was good, but I liked the first one a lot better.

Plot: I like stories where the characters are out questing and what not, but I thought the reason they were going about places was kinda dumb. I don't like how Grassina shirked all her responsibilities to save her lover. I understand that saving your boyfriend is important, but this just didn't sit right with me. I liked the underwater bits and the dragons though. Those parts were neat.

Characters: I still like Emma, and I think her character development was good. I felt like Grassina was a little backwards to me. She is supposed to be this knowledgeable witch, but she spent most of the book swooning and being worried. I just didn't like her as much, and I was pretty disappointed. Eadric....oh I wish this guy had a bigger backbone. He just seems useless. I really wish he did more.

Overall this book was a little more annoying and not as great, but I still liked it. The story is worth reading.

(spoilers!!!)

this was my favorite book in the series when i was younger and the same is true today. the world in these books are much bigger, and i wish ED Baker gave us more time exploring the magical world instead of flossing it over. the fast-pace action made it difficult to believe it happened within 3 days and i feel like the impact of (SPOILERS) Grassina turning into a wicked witch would have been stronger if we were given more time with her. i also feel like Emma was given more time to grow in her magic instead of just making it so that she was perfect out of nowhere. but will say that Baker knows how to write a compelling fantasy book, and im excited to continue on their adventure
