Kristy is really dragging this series out and ending each book with terrible cliffhangers. Terrible as in abrupt and just not strategic. This one is at least better than the others but still.
Idun is anti-climactic af. Violet does whatever she likes and it all turns out fine. It’s seen as dumb/naive by the other characters they change their minds and believe it to be brilliant/clever. No.
I know this book was to cater to the readers that wanted more “romance,” but seriously, it was total bs.
And even though I applaud Kristy for having Violet bring up troubling relationship issues she has with the guys at the beginning, she completely trashes it by having that very, VERY problematic thing with Emit. Consent my ass! She really tries to justify it too. And I low-key liked Arion, most of the crap he said in this book was super problematic. It’s brought up time and time again that Violet rewards bad behaviors and she practically goes “oh well. I can’t help myself, at least I get sex.” What even.
We get introduced to a new character and his mystery is put to the side and never brought up again after the third appearance. Another mysterious breed comes along and is used to soften the men but it’s mystery is also shoved aside, and then when an information about Violet comes to light it’s super brief and still speculation. I’m really wondering how she’s going to handle the conclusions for all this in the last book. She did a crap job with the other series. I’m almost done with this series that it’s too late to quit.

I’ve been struggling a little with what to say. I finished the book a few days ago but I didn’t know how to say that I was a bit disappointed in the series. There was far too much going around in circles in the earlier books, and then an enormous and confusing infodump crammed into the last book. I finished the book with many questions. Many many questions. There were bit part characters that were suddenly magically important. There were some “oh gods why are you so stupid” moments. There were moments of “can I just get to the end please”. On the flip side, there was a lot of out loud laughs and the odd bit of sexytimes.
I think the series is worth a read as something relatively easy to get through. It doesn’t shake the earth, but sometimes you don’t want that.
All up… I’ve read worse. And there’s some characters that you really grow to like.

Nope. Nope. Still nope. That cliffhanger is not okay. Must have answers. I’ll give a proper review of the whole series after I finish the last book. I just can not force myself to wait right now.

A continuation of the story is getting to a point where I'm afraid of what is to come. Out of all these pretty monsters, Violet sure shows a hell of a lot of meaning to life. Yet, she is the youngest. Always doing what she can to care for others. I love this woman! And I'm so freaking happy Anna is back!

This one is pretty boring. This really could have been 4 books.
Violet takes someone's punishment and gets beaten by Eden. Violet comes out smelling like roses, and everybody loves her even more.
The guys realize they've been ignoring Violet in favor of watching Eden TV. They do, what I think is supposed to be groveling, but is really just them telling her she should forgive them because she needs them. She forgives them by having sex with Emit and mating with him and having sex with Arion. How is that at all fair to Vance and Damien, who never get it, and Damien needs it to live.
It was not groveling. They should not be forgiven.
I'm only finishing this to see how she beats Eden in the end.

Now that’s what I’m talkin about
Gypsy Rising has it ALL. Major laughs, heartbreak, victory, freaking heart wrenching moment of pure torture and agony and a HELLS YES moment of pure joy. Freaking Violet is amazing. This story is amazing. And then enters Jasper and I’m swooning over the guys reactions to that. Can’t wait to see how all of this ends.

At this point in the series this book is just really dragging on at this point. I’ve only gotten so far because of my love for this cast of characters, but in terms of plot, I needed something to “happen”. There was always discussion of things coming to a head with Idun, or a war ensuing, but nothing came to a head.

This whole series has left my mind blown. Just when you think you know what’s going on? You don’t.
In Gypsy Rising, Violet really shows her true character. You think she lets people walk all over her, but she doesn’t. She just goes about, minding her own business, or at least that what you think. In reality she has plans in place that totally knocks the guys back a bit.
She puts her men, her parenta, her ex, and her boyfriends’ crazy ex all in their place. And, it’s a fabulous thing to watch.
Kristy Cunning... certainly has a cunning mind. I just sorta sit back and wonder if she’s totally sane? I mean, how could she be with these stories?
Book five of a six book series and I honestly don’t know how she’ll wrap this series up, but it’ll be fabulous whatever she does.
