Fake Fiancée is a new adult novel that combines the true heart of romance storytelling along with the sexy swagger of young love. It is yummy and delicious with the right amount of build up that draws you in so deeply you care about both hero and heroine achieving their goals. This was my first Madden-Mills book, but it won't be my last. I loved Fake Fiancée from start to finish so I'll be adding Ilsa Madden-Mills to my "need to read more of this author" list.

Max Kent is the star quarterback heading into his senior year of college. There is buzz talk of him receiving the Heisman trophy which would definitely mean the NFL in his future. If Max played his cards right and didn't screw up he'd have a real shot towards everything he's worked for. And when Max wanted something there wasn't much he wouldn't do to reach his goal. His last long term girlfriend almost screwed up his winning season last year, so when Sunny shows up on his doorstep the first day of class he sees a great opportunity and runs with it.

Sunny Blaine was a long way from where she'd run from several years ago. With little to her name she was attending college, taking care of her grandmother, working to pay for school and frankly she didn't have time for stupid, inconsiderate jocks. Miffed when a football groupie totaled her car, she had no qualms about letting the football jock who was basically an accessory to the crime (at least in Sunny's book) hear about it. What she wasn't prepared for was the instant connection that came after and the ridiculous proposal that shortly ensued.

Max and Sunny find a kindred spirit in each other, which quickly blossoms into friendship. When their friendship begins to burn into something more than they can handle will the inferno burn them and kill what they've built while they sit hopelessly on the sidelines watching it blaze out of control? Are they strong enough to make it through anything together?

"Sometimes there really is a bigger plan.
Sometimes there really is that one person.
Sometimes true love finds you no matter what."

Max and Sunny were such a delight to read. I really didn't want the story to end. For me, if I had a perfect description for what New Adult romance is, Fake Fiancée would be it. It captures the essence of youth, the budding relationship and choices young lovers make creating the pitfalls that happen when we doubt ourselves.

I can tell you, pick up this enjoyable read now, you won't regret it.

Sunny with a chance of LOVE?

Sunny was my favorite. Strong, funny, smart, witty, etc. Max was what we love in our book boyfriends ;) Funny, protective, strong, with only eyes for the heroine.

I love Ilsa’s writing so much. She just knows how to write in a way that makes you feel EVERYTHING. Every emotion.

Great story. I am convinced that all of Ilsa’s books are 5 stars❤️

I loved this book!!!! Five Star book for me! I got lost i and just could not stop reading. The Heroines falls in love with the man that saves her life. Had just enough, romance, mystery, suspense, and humor.

Who doesn't love the fake fiancee trope!?! Come on it's the epitome of fairytale!

A rugged good looking guy trusts you to help him and in the midst of chaos, drama, conniving hos, and bad people....the possibility of Love!

Yeah this hopeless romantic was sold on the blurb! I even got over the man bun once I realized why...because I previously was anti- man bun. Okay I still am with an exception for a certain hot quarterback!

It's all kinds of naughty and nice. And worth every twist of the circumstances.

Seeing as how I love the NA genre, I am a fan of Ilsa Madden-Mills. The books I have read by her are always entertaining and I couldn't wait to dive into this one. That being said, this was not my favorite books of hers and sadly I have to say that this might actually be my least favorite of hers to date. I had quite a few issues here and that kept me from being able to fully enjoy Fake Fiancee.

Max is a star quarterback and Sunny is his neighbor. When he discovers they have a class together, he offers her a ride. But when they walk in together, everyone starts to question who she is and why they are together. Max views it as the perfect opportunity to keep the football groupies and his ex at bay, but both Sunny and Max quickly realize that what started as fake has now become real.

I have to admit that I had a hard time relating to these characters. I didn't click with Max at first because it seemed like he really didn't care about anything but football, but he never seemed to really get beyond that for me. Sunny was likable, yet unremarkable. There wasn't anything to really stand out about her, and I found myself just not invested in either of these characters or their relationship. There was no big revelation about them meeting back up after three years after they first met, and I just kept waiting for it only to be disappointed. Their relationship and this book felt like so many other NA stories that I have read before, with nothing special to set it apart.

I also felt like there was so much telling here rather than showing, and it never felt like we saw much happen. I wanted to feel their connection and the emotions as well as chemistry between them, and I don't think that ever really happened. Overall, this just wasn't what I had been hoping for or expecting. I kept reading because I have loved books by Ilsa before. But this one just fell flat for me and didn't seem to have been executed the way I know Ilsa Madden-Mills normally does. I wanted to love it, but sadly this one was just okay and easily forgotten once finished.

Cute romance.

Fake Fiancée was a pretty cute book. It follows Max and Sunny and their slow burning romance. They both attend the same college - he plays football and is on his way to possibly getting the Heisman (or at least a nomination) and she is his next door neighbor. Little do they know (or remember) but they've met each other beforehand.

Three years ago, she got in a little car accident and he saved her life. She was obviously on the run from something in her past and he just lets her go without a worry. It takes them a while to remember how they knew each other but I loved how they had instant sparks and knew that there was something there between them.

Now these two have had awful relationships before they started their fake relationship. They've both been cheated on in one or another. So their fake relationship was pretty much a perfect idea... in the beginning. Things start to get real between them and they start realizing it's not really fake anymore.

Some things start to happen in their relationship, dangerous things I mean. Obviously someone is messing with Sunny and Max wants to get to the bottom of it. The person who was messing with the both of them was just kind of meh to me. I stopped caring once they assumed who the person was because they meant nothing to me.

In the end, they made everything official. They both got a happy ending. I just kind of assumed someone would end up pregnant, aka SUNNY, but I guess his pull-out game is strong.
