I wanted to like this more than I did! It’s a great book for teens, really written in a way that will incite anger and frustration with systemic racism. But I thought it really lacked subtlety. There are a lot of things about the characters that felt fake— character whom I had trouble believing anyone to take seriously he was so smarmy and obviously bad.
Luke I said— this is written for teens. I don’t want to dis it.
