This book was kind of odd. I appreciated that it was an easy read and I wasn’t quite sure how the plot would unfold. The ending kind of took me by surprise. And the underlying Twilight themes were weird.

Almost too much of a slow burn, while having likable characters isn’t a must, it feels weird to not have anyone to cheer for. Ruth is dull and naive. Which I know can be real it’s just hard to

I read a review on Goodreads that said this was written by someone who thought this is what a thriller should be written like and I couldn't have said it better. Ashely Winstead has a very YA like writing style and it's just not right for me. The Twilight mentions in this book were absurd and I almost threw the book into the fire at one point. The whole romance aspect annoyed me and I didn't even care throughout like 85% of the book who the perpetrator was. It was boring, badly paced, and I can't believe the main character actually thought her love interest was a vampire? She was like an innocent 23 year old who talked like a 15 year old but was cool with murder.

The ending?! I was literally asking myself: this is how it ends?

I really enjoyed this book, it was mysterious gripping and an exciting story with dark but also lovable main characters. The writing was incredible!

I would highly recommend this book if you want a gripping and fascinating dark read!
