I was a teen when I last read this & still even now it touches a piece of my heart. 🖤 It is possibly one of the most beautiful yet tragic love stories, at least to me. The Phantom only wanting to truly be loved for who he was behind the mask, then finally realizing to love her in such a way he had to let her go so she could be happy. 🥺🖤

There's so many film adaptations of the Phantom and it gives an impression of a book that's stuffier than the actual reality of it. The Phantom of the Opera is a swashbuckler and a lot of fun. I read this and then eagerly lent my copy to my mother, who practically tore through the book.
