Cover Story follows magazine intern and aspiring writer Lora Ricci, who becomes entangled with the alluring, wealthy heiress Cat Wolff on a writing project that will (hopefully) skyrocket their careers. But is Cat who she says she is? What is Lora willing to risk for this friendship and career opportunity?
This was definitely an entertaining beach read. It’s written through mixed media like diary entries, instant messages, and investigative memos. I loved watching the story unfold in this dynamic format!
Unfortunately, I think watching and loving Inventing Anna before reading Cover Story made the premise lose some of its drama. I couldn’t help feeling like I’d read it before and predicting what would come next. (But other Inventing Anna fans might love it for the similar vibes!)
I still liked this though and would recommend for a quick read about friendship, the pressure to succeed, and deceit!

This book had a little bit of a slow start, but once I got about 25% in I could not put it down and finished it in one sitting. I loved the nontraditional writing style of journal entries, emails, text messages, and FBI documents.
There were so many layers to this story and the characters had me questioning everything. And then THE ENDING!!! It was like a slap in the face. I did not see it coming at all and I am honestly still reeling from it.
