I wanted a light, fun read and this story delivered on that. It was pacy, entertaining, and easy to follow. Parts of the story are told through emails, receipts, social media posts, and news reports - this had the potential to come off as needlessly gimmicky, but in this book I thought it worked well. It's true, as other reviewers have said, that the character of Lora is immature and naive throughout, but Rigetti does a good job of showing this without making her PoV insufferable to read. Overall, the narrative tone reminded me a little of the Princess Diaries series, which was nostalgic and quite comforting. I haven't read adult fiction that pulls this off before.
My main issue with this book was that, until the final 10 or so pages, the plot seemed completely predictable. I kept thinking there would be some kind of twist, or a romance subplot, or anything other than a totally linear A-to-B-to-C storyline, but nothing came until the very end. That wasn't enough to make up for feeling slightly bored in places getting there, or that the characters were very stagnant until that point.

This book had a little bit of a slow start, but once I got about 25% in I could not put it down and finished it in one sitting. I loved the nontraditional writing style of journal entries, emails, text messages, and FBI documents.
There were so many layers to this story and the characters had me questioning everything. And then THE ENDING!!! It was like a slap in the face. I did not see it coming at all and I am honestly still reeling from it.
