The second book that I'have read of Elliot Ackerman and not disappointed. A "Pandora box" of manipulation, lies and adults with frustrating lives.

yet another strange book unbalanced all one way of living and being
there was not one normally ok well balanced person amongst the group of americans and turks living in current times in Istanbul. The author who is american is living there
It is a very odd story line with these for me all shallow people some wealthy some struggling some young nobody old. There is a very odd child who is adopted and his parents and the woman's lover and some american woman Kristin in very high political position american head of Cultural Affairs and some man who is lover of men and police officers and there are Protests.
the message I as a reader take away is akin to the writings of Sartre and existentionalism that really nothing matters nothing ever changes and I want to be very clear that nothing about this book or this author is at that level.

I really liked this as a story. It was like a really long short story if that makes sense. The interplay between people is what made this intriguing, and it felt like something that could really happen.

2 stars for how much enjoyment I got from listening to this book, not for the quality of the book. This book was not for me at all. I thought it was very boring - surprised I even finished it. The ending wasn't anything worth finishing the book for. I would say that this is a character-driven novel, however, I didn't see much character development...and not much plot either.
