I wish we got to meet Stanley earlier and Solange's plot was strange almost falling into the magical minority trope. However, I did love the story as a whole.

I've adored all of her books, and loved this one, too. It's set in Miami, and the town is a character in the book. The main character is a pastry chef, with all the control issues that implies, who has experienced the ultimate in non-control: a runaway child. Plan to have access to some classic French pastry while reading.

The most unsympathetic cast of characters I have ever met. Every action they took was grating. The only worthwhile character was a secondary character, Emerson. In the end there is no resolution to any storyline.
