Miscommunication tropes are overly useful in books lately. Leo straight up lied to Riley about his identity which is def not ok.

I have officially read more Christmas romances than I ever have before. I think this is the 4th or 5th I have read this year and I still have a few more I plan on reading which I think is so funny because I'm normally a little anti-Christmas books.
I saw the author promoting this book on Instagram and it immediately made me want to read this. It was a fun, spicy Christmas novella, but there were a few things that I didn't love.
So even though they resolved the mistaken identity, I still found it gross and icky that they had sex with each other while Riley was under the impression that Leo was someone that he wasn't. That just doesn't sit right with me and it was hard to forget that fact and get lost in the fun smut.
I also have a personal thing where if the book is entirely smut with very little plot, I get a little bored towards the end. That definitely happened while reading Trick Shot. After Riley left to go to Seattle, I found the remainder of the book very slow and ended up skimming the majority of the remaining pages.
I did love the representation of MLM this book provided. It isn't often that you get MM in books like this. Not many swords crossing if you know what I mean. The MM rep was very heartfelt and I think it added to the emotions present in the story.

Candy canes and spice.
This is a spicy novella that goes from steam and spice to real and raw in a blink. It's short and quick but comes in with all the spice and all the deep and raw feelings.
It has that Christmas Hallmark movie feel with an airport meet cute. Again, it is spicy, the spiciest I have read from Kayla, so please don't go un thinking this is a sweet, fluffy romance. It is more than that.
P.s. Fk Chad.

I have been in a reading slump for months now! Haven't been able to finish a book in probably 7 or 8 months. But I finished this book within hours of starting it! I couldn't put it down!
