I was really enjoying this book until the ending which felt so rushed and unrealistic in some ways. If you’re looking for spice this is great for that, though there’s practically none in the last quarter of the book.

Well… I just read my first Elle Kennedy book and it was not what I expected.

It was better. So much better. 🤩

Genre: Romance
Format: 🎧
Audiobook Narration: ☆☆☆☆☆
Pub Date: 10.31.2023
Star Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆

“I don’t love change, personally. I prefer stability. Once I feel comfortable with something—a place, a person, a routine—I want it to last forever. I hate that it never does.”

Why hasn’t anyone put an Elle Kennedy in my hands and said, “read this right now”?? I mean, seriously. I devoured this book. I loved the characters, their chemistry, and all of the open-door romance. I was definitely not prepared for what Kennedy had in store for me, but goodness, was it fun.

Not only was it full of some very steamy scenes, but it was also full of so much heart. The character development was 👌🏼 I was completely floored by Ryder and all he endured in his life, but what I loved more was how supportive Gigi was of the Prom King. They had fun and picked on one another, but the respect they showed was unmatched, and everyone deserves that type of relationship.

🥵 Doors wide open romance
💯 Character development
😍 The chemistry
🥹 Viva Las Vegas

I recommend reading The Graham Effect if you are fully prepared to be immersed in Elle Kennedy’s writing. As soon as I finished, I immediately preordered The Dixon Rule and may have already started reading it 😉

Elle Kennedy does it again.

Before reading this book I 100% recomend looking up the trigger warnings as this book does have a bit of triggering content.

The deal is one of my all time faves and I picked this book up
not knowing this was a second gen book that follows hannah and Garrett's daughter.

Also the female sports representation is incredible and needed, I have never read a book where the FMC is the hockey player,
this book also covers how unfair womens hockey is multipul times and brings up an important conversation.

The only issue I have with this book is how quick the end was. The first half of the book dragged on but the last 100 pages felt rushed.
especially the marriage plot

Hannah and Garret feel like grown up version of them selvs which is nice because in some second gen books the parents feel either 1 - as if they haven't aged and are still collage aged or 2 - like compleatly new charecters

The best example I can think of is that
Garrent still calls hannah wellsy or how he is so protective over their kids.

The book's fine. Like agressively fine. It's a good thing I like Gigi and Ryder otherwise I would have been dragging through the book.

Also the marriage seems completely out of left field but if the author says it works out, then I guess it will.

briefly coming back to this review to add: i get the pwhl didn't exist when this book was written, but come on. there were SEVERAL professional women's hockey leagues at the time of writing/publishing, and not a single mention? no nod to the phf? pwhpa (this one i get because of the ties to team usa i guess)? ewhl? anything? foolish.
