This book is a perfect introduction to fantasy if it’s not your favourite genre. At this introductory stage, it’s a political game, a murder mystery, and medieval kingdom on the brink of war.

The switch between characters, their corresponding locations, and journeys set a differing pace throughout the book. I find i read the Daenerys’s chapters slowly, taking in the ‘exotic’ world building George does wonderfully. This is a 10/10 read and i’ve read it twice now.

If only I'd found out sooner that the book switches characters each chapter! I looove when authors do that (like Maeve Binchy). As soon as I finished this I went straight on to the next one in the series, I couldn't wait to find out what happened next! And now that I've read this, I love the show so much more!

At over 800+ pages the book seemed a little daunting. But once you get past the somewhat disorienting beginning and begin to become immersed in the world there is no going back. I did get bored and tired of reading about the people at times but was still unable to put it down. This isn't a action packed in your face story but it delivers in subtle different ways. Im still not sure if my favorite character in book The Imp is a bad or a good guy but I have 4 other books to find out. =p
