Loved this one, but took some stars off for the cliffhanger with Zoey’s brothers! I was disappointed there was no resolution there, and I will probably jump to that series quickly to find out what happens.

Don't be scared of this book because the characters have dark pasts. The overall tone of the book isn't dark at all. It was a great read! I loved Sophie and Jerrok's struggles. They were perfect for each other and it was a great progression to them figuring this out.

Review after second read.

Jerrok and Sophie are great characters, but the two of them deal with ALL THE TRAUMA. So much trauma. It’s pretty crazy. However, this book is also chock full of praise kink, used to help Sophie recover from her past sexual abuse. It’s very well done and sweet, but it’s also just… a lot emotionally.

This was five stars on my first read. On the second read, it was all very good…up to a point

There are definitely places it drags. Especially at the end. Around 80%, I started wondering how much more could possibly be left of the story. It all felt a little unnecessary. Maybe it’s because it was a serial? The author talked about how she intended for it to be much shorter when she planned it. And I think it shows.
