I enjoyed 90% of the book
and then the ending totally ruined it for me
You know when you watched the new Indiana Jones for the first time and screamed, "SERIOUSLY?!?!?! ALIENS!!!????!?!? WTF?!?!?!?!!?!"
It was like that.

I agree with some other reviews I’ve read in expressing confusion? Uncertainty? A feeling that the ending came out of left field and wasn’t paying off anything? I don’t think I liked it; I’m just glad I finished it.
I don’t think I’d recommend this to anyone even though it’s not “bad.” I think if structured differently and plotted out more evenly, it wouldn’t make me feel like I just got spun around a bunch of times.

Interesting premise. This story could have nailed “Dark Academia” if the plot had been developed more. The “reveal” was confusing and a let down. I think this suffered from having too many characters and points of view. Enjoyed the ride, was ultimately left disappointed.

I am honestly pretty surprised by the poor reviews this book got!!! I thought it was pretty decent. The writing wasn't the most AMAZING prose ever but I wasn't expecting that...the plot was fun...the characters were engaging...I just didn't totally love love the ending but I'd still give it a 4 star. Maybe more like a 3.5. But still! The reviews on here have me perplexed! I hope you'll give this fun read a shot.

This book was okay. It made sense for awhile even near the ending but the last chapter with Evan just confused me. Like was it science or aliens or I have no idea. If there’s a sequel then I would probably rate this book a 3.5 because then maybe the sequel would explain more. Characters were ok but I didn’t really connect with them. Overall the book wasn’t bad but it’s wasn’t great either.

Just like the subjects.. erm, students, I am left with a lot of questions. Where is Redemption Academy? What are they hoping to accomplish with the ARC? How has nothing been found out yet? How can teachers play along with this? How has no parent questioned anything?! Will the author be putting book two out anytime soon?!?

This is a time where I wish I had read reviews first. This is a master class in “bait and switch” or when you see a movie trailer and ever good part of the movie is depicted in that trailer.
My biggest issue of the book is that the jacket draws you in with a certain genre and then does something completely different. One thing I do before reading a book is I look at the registered subject on the copyright page so I know what I am getting into and don’t read something I know I won’t enjoy. The subjects registered for this book are: Missing persons , Prep schools, schools, secrets, mystery and detective- all fiction.
While yes those subjects are present, other subjects are completely missing. It’s actually irresponsible of the publisher to not disclose the most import subject matters. While it doesn’t impact me personally, to not disclose the science fiction/ supernatural component especially when paired with Christianity/ church/ Bible content is plain wrong.
I don’t usually have this much of a response to a book but I am ticked off. Some may actually like the book I am sure but other than what I said above, the book lays self is disjointed and not fluid. It has a lot of confusing themes as well as structure. It incorporates students from different countries but it comes off as pandering.
And finally, the acknowledgments. You write a book that is geared for ages 13 and up/ Grades 10-12 (side note you can’t have both. 13 year olds aren’t in 10th grade. The publishing industry needs better categories for registration of books but that’s another mountain) and you choose to use poor grammar to write it? Writing without capitalizing the needed words is just another irresponsible action. The book may be fiction but students still learn from them.
