The first part was very interesting: about his mother’s death and how poorly it was handled at home. But the rest is just a bunch of anecdotes. I suppose I could have figured this out by just looking before I bought, but really expected more.

Man, this book took me forever to get through for some reason, but overallI really enjoyed it. I love that he wrote this and gave direct voice to his experience as a Royal. I enjoyed learning about his military service, and his love story with Megan was sweet. Above all, you really get a sense for his deep grief for his mom and his pain, anger, and confusion in his family relations that started way before Megan. I hope one day they can all reconcile.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I wasn’t expecting to relate to it the way I did.

Prince Harry has obviously put a lot of work into himself (therapy, etc). I appreciate his vulnerability throughout the book. He did what he felt he had to do to protect his family. There’s a lot more depth to this book than the sensational headlines will lead you to believe.

On the other hand it felt like he’s not yet ready to take a really critical look at the institution he grew up in. He blames the media for most of his troubles which is fair (they have been horrid), and he does talk about the complicity of his family in a lot of that but it feels like there’s a lot more for him to unpack with regards to the monarchy and colonialism. That’s a real blind spot for him. Some of his comments re: Africa were… yikes.

Appreciated hearing the story of his life. Some was TMI, but strongly feel he was telling the truth from his perspective. Have true compassion for him.

This was not about people bashing. It really was about untreated mental illness as it relates to loss. The monarchy is an institution which is archaic at best. It is amazing to me that this day and age they don’t understand the loss of a parent is significant. The fact that it was so public is obvious that it would have a profound effect on a child. Untreated loss of a parent could be a significant issue for mental illness.
