Weak ending aside, I really enjoyed this one! Pretty fluffy for a CNC relationship too. I found both MCs engaging and I enjoyed watching their relationship develop.

I love these authors independently, and guess what? I LOVED this book! Sure, part of it was "right book, right time". I had read a lot of dark and/or angsty books recently, and this was just what the doctor ordered. Were the conflicts a bit tired? Possibly. Was it corny, especially the ending? Yes, it was, and guess what? I didn't care in the least, because this story made me laugh, swoon, and need a cold shower all at once!
You're actually... that is to say... I don't just go drawing myself tied up for any old landlord, you know?
Autumn has had a rough go of it recently. She is a vet, and she moved to NYC from Australia so her boyfriend could follow his improv comedy dreams. She eventually finds out he has been cheating on her with groupies. She kicks him out but forgets to change her banking information and the rent wasn't automatically paid. Her hulking landlord shows up, and in an alcohol-fueled daze, she writes her new banking information on a random sheet of paper and gives it to him. Of course, on the back is a picture she had drawn of her deepest, darkest fantasy... being held captive... in a compromising position... at The Landlord's disposal.
She had only ever told one person about her fantasies; Ian, and she hadn’t so much ‘told him’ as he’d ‘caught her reading a fan fiction novel about Hermione being held hostage by a sexy lumberjack and guessed it was why she wanted to be tied up all the time.’
Autumn (AKA Fun-Size) is amazing. Once again, she's a quirky Australian, which is definitely Eve Dangerfield's contribution to the story. She's a veterinarian because, you know, money and respectable career and all that, but she also has dreams of being a stand-up comedian. The best part about Autumn, though? She was relatable as hell. In my own personal experience, it is not unprecedented for a female to get out of a long-term relationship having forgotten who she is and what she wants. Living in a foreign country, with no friends or family, amplified that feeling of isolation by a million. Luckily, Autumn found Blake.
Blake. He was doing this to her, he was giving this to her. What a fucking legend.
Autumn may have been likable and fun, but Blake (AKA The Landlord) made this story. Without him, it would've been a fun read I'd quickly forget about. He was different than most males in this kind of fantasy-driven story. First of all, because he had been hurt deeply in the past, he was more recluse than womanizer. He was quiet and fairly anti-social. Second of all, his first priority wasn't sex, it was making Autumn understand that she was worth more than she had been given all the years she was with Ian. He fucked up at times, of course; no man is perfect, but Blake was pretty fuckin' close, and not just because he was a genuinely good guy who was also intelligent and owned a building in New York City. He was a man of few words... except in the sack. The man spoke fluent filth, and I loved every second of it. Because he didn't speak a lot, his sweet or dirty message hit home every damn time.
"I used my strength on you, you wouldn’t be able to hold it together. Your thighs would pop open like goddamn cash registers and everyone would know you want my cock between them. Isn’t that the truth?”
“You were built to be thrown down. And I was built to throw you the fuck down.
“You don’t get it.” Blake’s light brown eyes locked on hers. “You’re the fucking sunshine and that’s how you should be treated. I wanted you to understand that more than anything.”
If you are in the mood for a funny and light- but still scorching- romance, READ THIS BOOK. Even if the whole dubcon/hostage thing makes you uncomfortable, in this story, it is done in a way that is more consensual than maybe anything I've ever read, probably because I trusted Blake as much as Autumn did. I know I will be putting it on my "reread if I'm having a bad day" list!

This was so engaging right from the start, really good characters and a quick entry to the tension between the two MCs. I liked the way consent was handled here, the way they found their way to each other, and clear voices they each had.

Previously dnf years ago but decided to give it a second chance now. While some parts were cute majority of the book is sex and this type of smut just isn’t for me, maybe if there were less sex scenes I would’ve liked it more. I found myself literally skimming pages. And I typically love some good smut but this just wasn’t my particular kink so I couldn’t enjoy it all that much, that isn’t to say it’s a bad book just not for me.

Laugh out loud funny and as good as all her books
